2016 has been a wild year for upsets and we’re only halfway through it. Middle Tennessee State upsetting one of the tourney favorites Michigan State, Leicester City winning the English Premier League, Nyquist losing to Exaggerator and having his Triple Crown hopes dashed, and now we potentially have a Thunder vs Raptors NBA final in the mix.

As a gambler, I lost a few bets because of every single one of these teams except Leicester City, and unlike Darren Rovell, I am not a fan of the “madness.” Simply put: I am pretty much done with huge upsets (for now), and isn’t just because I suck at gambling. We have filled our quota for upsets for, if I’m being honest, probably the next 10 years. I want all chalk from here on out.

Don’t get me wrong, I still appreciate a good upset every now and then. I’d be cool if Steph and LeBron watch the NBA finals from their respective couches. Leicester City winning was cool, if only because a few drunk British guys hit a 5000/1 bet.

But we have to draw the line somewhere. Seriously, after Leiceister city… what’s next? We can’t have the Browns coming out and winning the Superbowl. We can’t have the Browns coming out and thinking they even have a chance to win the Superbowl.

It’s like every single huge upset is trying to unseat the upset that came before it. I’m a sports fan, meaning I usually want the best matchup/game possible. If Michigan State beats Middle Tennessee, no doubt in my mind they go to the Final Four. If Nyquist beats Exaggerator, I’m sure we’d have back-to-back Triple Crown holders.  Does this mean I don’t truly appreciate sports? Probably. Is this an absolutely abysmal opinion and do I deserve the crying Jordan meme slapped on my face just like all of these teams? Definitely.
