Here Are The Potential Ramifications of Tonight’s Thunder v Warriors Game Seven

By: Alex Marcheschi

Game sevens always get hyped up, and rightfully so, but the Thunder v Warriors game tonight legitimately has a shot to be the best NBA game of all time. I realize a lot of Westsiders aren’t into the NBA and would much rather watch college hoops, but you gotta trust me on this one. Watch the game tonight, you won’t regret it.

Off the top of my head, the best NBA game I’ve ever seen live was game six of the 2014 Finals when Ray Allen saved the LeBron’s legacy by hitting the most clutch three in NBA Finals history.

There is so much riding on this game from about every angle imaginable. I’ve listed the possible ramifications of this game below:

If The Warriors Win

– It will become one of the most legendary professional sports stories ever. The team with the best regular season record ever coming back from being down 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals? I hate Golden State, but I would have to admit that it would be a top five sports story ever. It’d be like the ’04 Red Sox but with the best regular season team ever.

– KD will most likely leave. If the Thunder blow this, it will perfectly encapsulate the KD era in OKC. Amazing to watch, exciting, but they just can’t reach that next level. Choking away a 3-1 lead with The Finals on the line would be extremely hard to deal with. I’d need a change of scenery if I were him.

KD spurs

Scariest pic ever

– If Steph goes off and puts GSW on his back, the media will put him on an MJ level and it will piss LeBron off. I’m actually starting to convince myself that it’s better for the Cavs if Golden State wins because of that. Love angry LeBron.

If the Thunder Win

–  KD and Russ make a pact to stay together forever in OKC and create a dynasty. This would be amazing for the game and the western conference playoffs for the next 5-7 years. Getting to see OKC and Golden State duke it out in the playoffs every year would be amazing. If they made it a pay per view type of deal, I’d pay.

– We get to see LeBron v KD one-on-one for an entire series. I get chills thinking about LBJ guarding KD with 100% effort. Holy shit.

– Billy Donovan gets to give everyone the double birds, including me. I didn’t think that was a good hire at the time but he’s making all the difference in the world with the way he staggers the resting time for KD and Russ. He just coached circles around Pop, he’s hanging with Kerr and he’s making Scott Brooks look like a chump.

Get excited friends. I think there’s like a 90% chance this game ends up being one of the GOATS, if not the GOAT. I do also think there’s a 10% chance Golden State destroys OKC, there’s a reason Vegas made the line Warriors -7.
