Draymond Green Went at Paul Pierce, Is Consequently Dead To Me
By: Alex Marcheschi
Draymond Green is at it again. The only man I truly hate on this earth (Coach K, Bruce Pearl and Chris Mack excluded…apparently college b ball gets my blood flowing) just insulted my hero. Draymond took a page out of the liberal media’s book and took The Truth’s quotes out of context. Below is Paul’s quote…below that is Draymond’s response.
“I’m an old-school guy. I’m a competitor. I never believed that – when you want to be the best, you’ve to beat the best. That’s always been something that’s driven me. Today’s day and age, a lot of these guys are friends. That’s like if Bird decided to go play with Magic or something. These guys, I think the competition makes the game what is.
And Oklahoma, I felt like, was a contending team. They had Golden State on the ropes. I understand when you have great players on losing teams who are tired of losing, struggling in the playoffs every year. You’re the lone star. I’ve been in that position. I could have left Boston years ago, but I stuck it out. I just feel like when you’re that close, as a competitor, you don’t go join the team that just put you out.
That’s just me personally, but we’re living in a day and time where there’s a new generation. Guys I don’t think they are as hungry or competitive as my generation was, and that’s why you’ll probably see more of that.” – Paul Pierce
Now, for Draymond’s response.
“I just wonder at what point do they get bored talking about the same thing. You got all these guys talking. Like (Paul) Pierce today, like, dude nobody care what you did or who you did it for. Just give it a break.
Everybody got something to say and want to take everything he say and twist it. Like, he play for the Warriors. OKC has their team, we have our team. He left there.
Nobody complain when somebody leave Apple and go to Google. As a basketball player, you are the CEO of a business. You are a business. Kevin Durant is a big business. He is the CEO of that business. So him going to play basketball for a different team, the CEO decided to leave where he was at and go somewhere else.
But there’s so many guys in this league that are so stupid they don’t think like that. They don’t think business wise. It happens every day in this world. But in basketball it’s a problem. Aren’t you competitive your day job if you work or Apple? Don’t you want to outdo Google? What’s the difference on the basketball court? It’s your day job. You want to do what’s better for you. If it’s better for your family life, better for your happiness. Ain’t no one criticizing them. I’ll never understand it. I don’t understand it.
So that’s just me. And I’d be willing to bet my salary ain’t many guys in this league more competitive than me.” – Draymond
First of all, I want to say this loud and clear – Fuuuuuuuck the Warriors for always comparing themselves to Silicon Valley. Just because Mark Jackson put together the perfect roster and Steve Kerr’s slimy ass commandeered it into a science project doesn’t mean you’re the basketball equivalent of a great startup. You were Vine and then the Cavs came along like Instagram when they made posting videos possible. Let’s take a look back at what Warriors owner Joe Lacob and his giant techy brain had to say about the Warriors last year.
Via Yahoo – “We’re light-years ahead of probably every other team in structure, in planning, in how we’re going to go about things,” he said. “We’re going to be a handful for the rest of the N.B.A. to deal with for a long time.”
How’d that work out Joey? You forget that LeBron is by far the best player on the planet and that Kyrie is essentially on par with Steph? Yikes, fam.
Here’s what it boils down to, all Pierce said is he doesn’t agree with joining a rival and that you can’t compare this KD situation to the Boston Big Three. That’s true. KG and Ray came to him to win a ring, that’s just a fact. Pierce stuck around in Beantown when the Celtics management stunk it up for years. He gave Boston his blood, sweat and tears. The Celtics sucked…Rondo came along and KG and Ray saw a cash cow. History was made. Then, they all hated Ray when he left for a rival. His quote shouldn’t surprise anyone.
KD, as Paul said, was already on a team that could have won a ring. He left that team for the team that murdered his dreams. That’s a coward move, no way around it. He even said that he was glad the Cavs won so it didn’t look as bad when he joined GSW.
Pierce didn’t eliminate KG and Ray from the playoffs. They saw Paul was a GOAT and knew they could hitch their wagons to his Hemi-powered truck. Way different. I really liked KD too, I had a poster of him in my room in college (embarrassing).
*editor’s note – Boeing pointed this out after this was published, Ray and KG came to Boston via trade, not free agency. Makes Paul look even better.*
Let’s not forget that Dray posted a dick pic ON HIS SNAPCHAT STORY. That’s an all-timer, you shouldn’t come back from that as quickly as he has. If you’re reading this and you actually like Draymond Green, please tweet us @ThePUPListBlog because I don’t know how it’s possible to like this guy.
Yes Draymond has a ring, but that’s just because he’s the luckiest dude ever. Falling in the draft to the Warriors is the best possible thing that could have ever happened to him. It’s the perfect system for him and he got paid because of it, if he goes anywhere else in that draft, no chance he has a ring, let alone sniffs the all-star team.
Hey Dray, let’s not forget the Warriors passed on you in the first round too and took Ezeli. How’s that taste?
p.s. – wow man, bold move betting your salary that “ain’t many guys in this league more competitive than me.” So soft, put your money on something that can actually be measured…like maybe stats in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, oh wait you were suspended for that one and blew it for you’re whole squad fam.
double p.s. – way more people care about what Pierce did for Boston than what Dray did for GSW.
